Valve is collaborating with iFixit, a repair information platform, to sell replacement parts for the Steam Deck, and some of the parts sold include batteries so that users can replace them themselves.

The fact that Steam Deck offers genuine (albeit expensive) replacement batteries will be important, as many Chinese mobile gaming PCs have batteries that deteriorate and become unusable.

As of December 2022, only users in the U.S. can purchase replacement batteries

The ability to purchase replacement batteries outside the U.S. will depend on how well iFixit is able to expand its service to the rest of the world.

Currently, purchasing from outside the U.S. requires the use of a transfer service, which makes the replacement cost much more expensive, but just not having the risk of not being able to use the battery at all is a big step forward.

Battery replacement is possible, but the replacement process is difficult.

Replacing the battery in the Steam Deck is not that difficult, as described in iFixit's official guide.

4. remove the battery
5. install a new battery

However, although simple, the battery is strongly adhered to the body with a sticker, so this is not a task that anyone will be able to do easily and quickly.

However, with careful preparation and careful work, it is a task that anyone can perform.
