Steam Deck docking station specs, price, release date
What is the Steam Deck docking station?
The Steam Deck Docking Station is a genuine Steam Deck accessory manufactured by Valve that combines the functionality of a USB hub and a stand to stand the console on.
The word "docking" conjures up images of a Nintendo Switch dock, but since Steam Deck has a USB type-C port on the top of the unit, it is more like "connecting the hub to the USB port and standing it up" rather than combining the two.

Steam Deck Docking Station Lineup and Pricing
The Steam Deck docking station is only available in one type and can be purchased globally for $89, either at the same time as the main unit or separately.
Are docking stations more expensive than USB hubs?
If you are looking for cosmetics in terms of stand-alone features, such as wanting HDMI output, you will inevitably go for the USB hub.
However, the Steam Deck genuine docking station has the following two advantages.
- dual display support
- it comes with a genuine AC adapter
Many 45W-class USB type C adapters cost more than $30 by themselves, so it is not that expensive if you consider that you bought the genuine adapter and dock as a set.
Also, if you want to use Steam Deck as a work or work PC with dual displays, the stock docking station is currently the only option, making it a must-have accessory.
